About Laura Gordon
For over thirty years, I've been trying to make people laugh with my writing. When I was in middle school, that meant I wrote the wacky family newsletter and sent weird birthday cards to my uncle. When I became a mom, I focused on writing picture books and short novels for my own children. In Child of Chaos, I bring my weird sense of humor to the world of fantasy.
I'm lucky to have the help of my very own, live-in middle grader. My eleven-year-old son, Isaac, has played a critical role in helping me write this first book project. All of my children are invested in the process of writing books, and every book I write is dedicated to them.
Novel and Upcoming Projects

Child of Chaos
Child of Chaos is my first completed novel-length project. This unusual story follows one disaster-prone girl as she journeys into a strange world, where toys can talk and fight, to save her missing father and reclaim her powers from a witch who looks like she does. Although it stands alone, I have plans for two additional titles in the series: Daughter of Darkness and Out of Order.
Daughter of Darkness
My current work in progress, Daughter of Darkness, follows Mackenzie as she wrestles with her newly discovered power over chaos, and with the Void Witch whose taken up residence in her head. Along with her cousins, Isaac and Mackenzie, and a new twelve-year old boy named Ethan, Mackenzie has to figure out why the shadowy organization called the Order is so eager to get their hands on her - and how to stop them.
